The One with Pat's Run

Steve has always made his feelings about running quite clear. He doesn't like it. He believes the only reasons to run are a) You are dribbling a basketball or b) Someone is chasing you.

Without his knowledge, I signed us up for Pat's Run. It's a short distance (4.2 miles), for a great cause (to honor Pat Tillman #42), and at an awesome place (ended on the 42 yard line at ASU Stadium).

Steve had a good 3 months to train for it, but he chose not to. He felt he could keep up with me without running once before it. I was excited for the challenge and I knew he had a chance of beating me, just because he's so athletic. We stayed together for the first 3 miles, then I kicked it up a notch and he had to (gasp) walk for a little bit. I didn't see him again until the race was over.

My time was 32:09, and his was 33:40.

Regardless of the outcome, I had a blast running with my hubby. This was my kind of date. I don't know if Steve shares in my sentiments, but I think deep down he had fun too.

While we were running, the kids got to stay and play with grandma and grandpa. I don't think they even knew we were gone.
Then, we rushed home for Reva's baptism. I'm so happy we could share this experience with her!

It was a good day.

everytime I see a picture of your kids I don't know if I can make it for one more month without seeing them. I NEED them.

Maybe if steve was wearing little black shorts he would have performed better.

I love that you beat Steve. It REALLY makes me happy. And I LOVE your dress you are wearing at the baptism. I haven't bought a new dress in 3 years. And its killing me.

Way to go on the race. How cool for Reva! And I love your dress, too.

I love your dress too! Even though you beat Steve I'm still impressed he did that well without ever training! Great running times, guys!

So awesome! I bet it was even more fun because you beat your hubby to the finish line. And you are so good - I would gloat and brag about it for weeks. There's a few races coming up in our neck of the woods this fall that I want to try. One is called the Muddy Buddy race (it goes to different cities - I wonder if it comes to AZ). You have to run with a partner and finish together - and it's basically all fun and obstacles, plus running and biking - and mud. There's another one called the Dirty Dash that kind of does the same thing. But we'll see how I feel when it gets closer.
