The One with the Christmas Tree

The first year we were married Steve and I went to the forest to cut our tree (just like our families always did). When we came home, decorated it, and sat down to admire it, we both agreed it was hideous. So we chopped it up, and drove straight to Walmart to buy a fake tree. We've been using that one ever since, but decided this year that it was time to try again. We went out to the forest with some friends and had a blast doing reconnaissance on the four-wheelers. There weren't many Christmassy (it's a word) trees to choose from, but we did the best we could. After setting it all up, I am happy to say it is still standing. Yes, there are some obvious bald spots, and it's a little embarrassing when people see it in the day time. But, we love it! We had so much fun getting it and it makes our house smell really good! And, Talan and Tatum did most of the decorating, which is why there are clusters of ornaments towards the bottom of the tree.

That's such a cute picture layout! :) We'll always be able to do our trees how we want later in life-let the kids have a ball right?

I LOVE real Christmas trees - I just hate cleaning up all the dry needles. But...there's just something to having that fresh pine smell:)

Oh, and I think the tree looks great. A tree is great no matter what, if all else fails just call it your Charlie Brown Tree.
