The One with the Canisters

One time my grandma came to visit. I will never forget the look of horror on her face as she turned over our plates to find they were Made in China! See, my grandparents both worked in potteries, and my grandpa was even one of the head honchos of the pottery union. Oops. Since then I have vowed to buy only American made pottery. I chose Fiesta by Homer Laughlin (which is right by where my grandparents live in Ohio, and one of the only potteries still open in the US). If you want to buy some go here. I just got these three lovely Fiesta canisters. I'm just not sure what to put in them. What does one put in their canisters these days?

I keep my flour and sugar in my canisters. Although mine are stainless steel and they were Mike's grandmother's once upon a time. I don't keep them on my counter though. I keep them in a cupboard. And, I am SHOCKED to see the ones you picked were red. Truly shocked.

Very cute! I love RED, I think I have red in every room in my house. I don't have canisters, but if I did I would keep sugar and flour in them if they had a good rubber seal on top.

What a fun collection - I love your red! We keep ours stocked with flour & sugar. For us, it seems handy for those days when cookie or brownie making sound good! Those look perfect for storing your yummy cookies or brownies, too!

What about Seagrove pottery? It's a whole little community of potters in NC. I've never bought anything from there, but they are hugely popular around here.

I don't have any canisters, but I LOVE yours. WAY cute. If I did have some, I think I'd put loads of cash in one and stuff the other one with chocolate. I'd feel happy every time I walked by them. :)

Sounds like sugar and flour are the general way to go, but I LOVE the "loads of cash" idea!

Who says you have to put anything in them?

I love household referals! I looked at the website, they have lots of fun kitchen stuff. I've always had canisters with baking stuff in them, I actually hate mine, they are hidious, not precious like your recent purchase. I just feel like every kitchen needs canisters, so I don't do anything about it. gasp! I know! I'll sell mine on craigslist and buy new ones like yours! You've inspired me once again.
